Abbess Meriam was a female mouse Abbess of Redwall Abbey. She was taller than most mice, and was slender, middle-aged, and known for her great wisdom and serenity. She rarely smiled, but she was still a very kind Abbess. Her walking was so neat that it looked like she would have floated with her long habit.

Meriam was great friends with Bryony, whom she later appointed Abbess after she retired.
