Songbreeze Swifteye was a female squirrel of Redwall Abbey. She was the granddaughter of Ellayo and Gawjo Swifteye, and the daughter of Rimrose and Janglur Swifteye.
Renowned for her singing voice, she was often referred to as 'Song'. Songbreeze and her friends Dippler and Dannflor were the guards of Great Hall when Ascrod and Vannan stole the Tapestry of Martin the Warrior during a battle to rescue Dwopple.
Songbreeze was classified as one of four Chieftains who traveled to Marlfox Island to retrieve the Tapestry, along with Dannflor, Dippler, and Burble. Her weapon was a stick with a green stone on its top known as Leafwood during the journey.
She and Dann rescued Dippler and Burble, who were captured by Raventail and his band. She became a friend of the osprey Mighty Megraw when she helped him from danger in waterfalls. At same time, she got separated from Dann, Dippler and Burble. They were rescued by a male cormorant, and Song and Megraw stayed in his nest for a while. Later, Song and Megraw met Gawjo Swifteye and Torrab. After this they arrived at Marlfox Island and managed to free the slaves held captive there.
She later became Abbess of Redwall Abbey, as her good friend and badger mother Lady Cregga Rose Eyes had a dream from Martin the Warrior telling her to appoint the young squirrelmaid. She used a wooden squirrel that that her father had carved as a doorstop; after Song passed away the doorstop was given to Cregga, who then used it to find the next Abbess of Redwall, Mhera. Song was also a little vain, and she used the monocle of Major Perigord Habile Sinistra in her old age when she didn't see well anymore. She took naps in the Infirmary, when it was empty.
Before she died, Song left a riddle in a wooden squirrel to decide who would be the next Abbot or Abbess.
