Durral was an old male mouse and the Abbot of Redwall Abbey for seven seasons. He enjoyed cooking and was once a kitchen worker before taking up Abbotship. He presumably succeeded Abbot Mordalfus. Durral was known to be very humble and kind. He was kidnapped by Lask Frildur in his seventh season as Abbot, Lask believed the residents of Redwall were hiding the pearls after his discovery of the skeleton of Graylunk, the thief who stole the pearls. He was to be ransomed for the Tears of all Oceans, but was taken back to Sampetra to be the captive of Ublaz Mad Eyes until the pearls could be found. On the return voyage to Sampetra with his captors, he befriended Romsca, the ferret captain of the Waveworm. After Lask, Romsca, and their entire crew were slain, Durral was forced to ride it out alone to Sampetra, where he was held captive by Ublaz. He was later rescued by Martin II, Grath Longfletch and their friends, who returned him safely to Redwall.
After his ordeal, Durral passed on the title of Redwall guardian to Tansy, who became Abbess. He then became a kitchen friar with Friar Higgle Stump.
