Aggril was an old grey hedgehog who wore square spectacles and used a blackthorn walking stick. He brewed many types of cordial, and was naturally very moody and temperate. Aggril lived north of Noonvale, by a cherry grove in a hollow oak. Aggril protected the cherry grove fiercefully and believed he had sole custody of the fruits it offered. He helped direct Martin the Warrior, Rose, Grumm and Pallum to Rose's residence in Noonvale. However, he did not trust his hosts and gave them a potent sleeping agent before sending them in the care of Boldred and the otters who would eventually bring Martin and his friends to their destination. Had it not been for Boldred's presence, he might have administered a lethal dose.
