Brother Hal was a male mouse Recorder of Redwall Abbey. Despite having a permanent furrow in his headfur due to Samkim and Arula's mischief, he was quite fond of the two young ones and stayed up all night to research the Sword of Martin and clear up the confusion over its sudden appearance. After dashing down the stairs to Great Hall with a parchment he had found, he was accidentally shot in the throat by Dingeye and Thura, who were fooling around with the Nameday sporting equipment.
