Brother Hubert was a male mouse Recorder of Redwall Abbey. He gave lessons on recording and Abbey history, in particular to Dandin and Saxtus. Hubert discovered the flute of Gonff the Mousethief in the Gatehouse.

When he was younger, Hubert had a crush on Sister Sage; they studied together under Sister Verity. He was also an old friend of Gabriel Quill and Burgo.

Hubert recorded the tale of Mariel Gullwhacker. Additionally, Hubert sheltered Fieldroan the Traveler, and took some of his scrolls. One of these contained directions to Terramort Isle.

Hubert also supervised the sewing of the tapestry of Martin the Warrior, and taught Bagg, Runn, and Grubb how to sew.

Note: Brother Hubert is mistakenly called Abbot Hubert and Friar Hubert at one time in Mariel of Redwall. This is probably a small printing error.
