Candied chestnuts are snacks enjoyed by all Redwallers, especially the Dibbuns. They are usually given to sick young ones in the Infirmary, or Dibbuns that are good and obedient.

Many birds also love these candied desserts, including Chibb (who was quite partial to them and would provide spying services to creatures who paid him with candied chestnuts), Warbeak, King Bull Sparra (who promised Matthias Martin the Warrior's sword, sheath, and belt as well as his life for many bags of candied chestnuts), and Pandion Piketalon.
