Inclusive of searats, bilgerats, water rats and regular rats. Almost exclusively badbeasts and consists of the majority of villains in the Redwall universe. Of all of the villians, rats are portrayed as the most numerous, weak and stupid, with several often defeated by one warrior. Consequently, they are often seen as the lowest sort of "paw" soldier in villain hordes. Exceptions exist, of course, with several rats being fearful warriors or leaders, with Cluny as the most famous example.
