Dippler was a male Guosim shrew who assisted Songbreeze, Dann, and Burble in defeating the Marlfoxes. He was on the guard duty when Mokkan and Ziral stole the logboats of the Guosim and he was always picked on by most of the Guosim. Waterfly was his logboat.
He was guarding the Great Hall with Dannflor and Songbreeze, when Marlfoxes, Vannan and Ascrod stole The Tapestry of Martin the Warrior. Dippler was almost killed by Vannan, but a helmet, which he had worn, saved his life. He was very upset when he discovered that Log-a-Log, who was like a father to him, had been killed by another Guosim, Fenno. Dippler made an oath to kill Fenno, and later became Log-a-Log himself for avenging the previous Log-a-Log's murder.
He was one of the four Chieftains that went to Marlfox Island along with Songbreeze, Dannflower, and Burble. He and Burble were captured by Raventail and his band, but Songbreeze and Dannflor, who managed to escape, rescued them. He also helped to rescue Burble from a big fish in the underground cave.
