Grandmum Gurvel was an ancient molecook in Redwall Abbey who worked in the kitchens with Toran Widegirth. She wore an apron. She was frequently angry at Horty, Fenna and Springald because they raided the kitchens. Gurvel later helped to defend Redwall against vermin. She lent the fighters a large sack of hotroot pepper that she had no use for, and helped come up with the idea for the Pepper Bombs.
