Florian Dugglewoof Wilffachop was the male hare leader of the Wandering Noonvale Companions Troupe. He wore a lilac silk frock coat, floppy yellow boots and a wide-brimmed straw hat. He also carried a silver tipped cane. He has an ongoing rivalry with Dwopple, a mischievous Dibbun mouse. Typical of hares, Florian has a huge appetite.

Florian is also the descendant of Ballaw de Quincewold (who appears in Martin the Warrior, has a similar personality and is also an actor), and plays his ancestor in the Duel of Insults skit.

Florian and his troupe are accosted in the woods by two Marlfoxes, Gelltor and Predak. After a short exchange of threats and insults, the outnumbered Marlfoxes leave. Florian decides that the troupe has to move to Redwall Abbey, to inform them of the Marlfoxes' presence in Mossflower Woods, but their cart becomes stuck in mud during a thunderstorm. They are rescued by the Guosim, who were also traveling to Redwall on account of the Marlfoxes.

They arrive at Redwall. Soon afterwards, the Marlfoxes kidnap Dwopple. Florian, though he has a long-standing grudge against the mousebabe, is visibly disgusted at this move and proves himself during the ensuing battle.

During the long siege that the Marlfoxes set up after this conflict, Florian becomes one of the key defenders of Redwall. At first, he tries disastrously to drill the younger and older Redwallers in case the Abbey is infiltrated. Later, he manages to foil a Marlfox plan that involves swinging across to the wall on a rope. Florian uses a sharp knife tied to a pole (which later becomes his weapon of choice) to cut the rope and send the flying infiltrator (a rat named Stukkfur) into the abbey wall. Amazingly, the rat survives this collision.

At one point, Florian accidentally sits on a salad fork. When he rushes to the infirmary to treat this "wound", he is mercilessly ragged by the shrews Bargle and Mayon (who already tease him for his appetite). This does not abate when Florian is stung on the nose by a bee, and Tragglo Spearback sings a comical ditty about the incident with the Dibbuns.

After the Marlfoxes and their soldiers are vanquished, it is Florian's idea to make the survivors clean and repair the Abbey, which has been damaged significantly by the siege. It is unclear whether Florian and his troupe stay at Redwall forever, although a point is made that he is "always welcome".
