Diggum was a young molemaid of Redwall Abbey. She was one of Arven's primary Dibbun friends with whom he liked to stir up trouble and make mischief. She was also good friends with another mole Dibbun, Gurrbowl. As an adult, Diggum became Foremole of Redwall and participated in the inspection of the collapse of the south wall of the Abbey and the eventual discovery of the Treasure of Verdauga Greeneyes. As most moles Diggum had very good common sense and a very practical mind.

Note: Jacques inadvertantly switched the gender of Diggum from Pearls of Lutra to The Long Patrol. In the former, the mole was female, but in the latter was a male.
