The Great Doomwyte Idol was what the Doomwytes believed gave them their power. It was a large obsidian statue of a black bird with a snake crown kept on an island in the middle of the sulfur lake in the Doomwyte lair.
The eyes of the snake consisted of two green emeralds, and the eyes of the bird were two red rubies.
During the time of Rigvar Skurr, Gonff the Mousethief stole the jeweled eyes from the statue for his wife Columbine, however she refused them. Gonff hid the jewels throughout Mossflower and left a series of clues leading to each jewel. Seasons later they were searched for by Bisky, Dwink, Umfry Spikkle, Abbot Glisam, and Samolus Fixa.
