Jim Winn was the son of Winifred Winn and Captain Rodney Winn, descendent of Edmond De Winn, Evelyn De Winn and Caran De Winn. He was husband to a wife called Lilian Winn and the father of 2 sons, Jamie and Rodney. Although he was born in Chapelvale, Jim and his family resided several years in Ceylon. He eventually decided to buy a house and relocate with his family back in Chapelvale after the village was saved from destruction.
