Juniper was a young mouse slave at Fort Marshank, freed by Brome with the second group of slaves. He was killed on a raid at Marshank by an arrow when he stood up to celebrate his own marksmanship. Juniper was buried on a clifftop, and Felldoh's comments swearing revenge for Juniper's death during his funeral further distanced him from Brome, as Brome said that it wasn't a true goodbye, but a vow to avenge his memory.
