Madd was a crazy female squirrel who lived in Mossflower Woods. She wore a tunic made of skins of foxes, weasels and rats and she was a friend of Botarus. Her family was killed by vermin and because of that she had a fierce dislike to vermin. Botarus had found Madd with a serious head wound. Later, Madd captured Tagg, because she thought he was a vermin, but Tagg presented his coracle to her.

Although not mentioned in the books, it seems highly likely for her to be Fwirl's mother.
