Mangefur was a minor rat captain and a scavenger in Cluny's horde. Mangefur and Ragear led a party of twenty soldiers to look for food during Cluny the Scourge's preparation to take over the region. Both incurred their chief's wrath when they failed in their mission.
During the siege of Redwall Abbey, Mangefur and Scumnose found Plumpen and his family of dormice and took them prisoners. Mangefur's demise is unknown, although it is fair to assume he died during the final battle, as most of the other named rats who were still alive did die then.
