Nettlebud was a sturdy female hedgehog, the daughter of Skyspike, or Sollertree; and Beechtipp. When Nettlebud was little, she was captured by raiding vermin, finally ending up enslaved on Marlfox Island.

She was responsible for killing Mokkan and Ullig. Later she travelled to Redwall Abbey with Songbreeze Swifteye, Dannflor, Dippler, Burble and the others and was reunited with her father.
