Old Quelt was an ancient male silver-furred squirrel who started Redwall Abbey's library. He was the first head librarian, and was also Abbey Recorder. Quelt was known for being extremely old and knowledgeable; he drank tonic and wore crystal spectacles. Sister Snowdrop was his assistant and probably his successor.
