Oreal was a male harvest mouse, husband to Hillyah and father of the twins, Irgle and Ralg. He and his family moved into the Redwall Abbey Gatehouse to serve as Gatekeepers half a season after Old Gruggle passed away. Along with his wife, Oreal defended his children from an angry gannet that had been wounded and residing in the Abbey attic. While fighting the gannet, he bloodied his hands.
