Before Green Isle came to be ruled by savage feral cats and Riggu Felis, it was a home to various otterclans. The ruling clan was the Wildloughs, who had lived in the island fortress under the High Queen Rhulain. The cats took most of the otters as slaves and any remaining were made outlaws.

The clans united under the strength of Leatho Shellhound, the outlaw leader and last of his own clan, and the new High Rhulain, Redwaller Tiria Wildlough, to battle the cats and reclaim their beautiful home.
