Rorgus was the Skipper of Redwall Abbey, the mate of Zaran the Black and father of Rorzan. He played an active role in searching for the Doomwyte jewels. Rorgus also fought against the Painted Ones numerous times. He helped Dwink, Bosie, and Aluco escape from the tunnels below the Redwall cellars. He also was one of the four who traveled east to find one of the Doomwyte jewels, where he encountered Blodd Apis. Rorgus was present in the fight against Korvus Skurr in Skurr's underground lair.
