Lieutenant Sagetip was a hare of the Long Patrol of the mountain fortress Salamandastron, under the badger lord, Lord Mandoral Highpeak. Following a dinner in the mountain mess hall, Sagetip was among the thirty hares handpicked by Captain Raphael Granden. He and the other chosen hares were sent to accompany Tiria Wildlough on her mission to free Green Isle from the reign of Riggu Felis and his feral cat army.
