Sister Alkanet was an Infirmary keeper of Redwall Abbey. She was a severe and no-nonsense type of mouse and one of Redwall counselors. She also smiled seldom and was constantly worried, because there wasn't a real Abbess or Abbot or Champion in the Abbey. Alkanet suggested that Skipper with his crew would ask any wanderer about Rillflag and Deyna. Sister Alkanet treated a goose, who had a bashed-up wing pinion one summer.
At first she was doubtful of Abbess Mhera. She had a famous icy glare and was later Assistant Cellarkeeper after handing the job down to Brother Egburt and Sister Floburt. She also might have "ruined" pennyclould tea in a meal at Redwall Abbey.
