Skipper was a male otter who was the Skipper of Otters during the Seasons of the Savage, and Brookflow's uncle. Skipper was fond of hotroot pepper according to Friar Glisum, and also liked nutmeg and hotroot pepper in his oatmeal. Skipper was on the Nightwatch before the arrival of Gulo the Savage.

He was very knowledgeable of the geography of Mossflower Woods, and often served as a scout for the Long Patrol, Rakkety Tam MacBurl, and Wild Doogy Plumm while tracking Gulo the Savage and his horde. Skipper was a fearsome fighter, fighting alongside the Long Patrol with practised ease.

He was one of six Marshalls who went with Rakkety Tam to make sure that Gulo didn't play any tricks in their duel.
