Skipper was leader of the Mossflower Woods otters at Redwall Abbey, and a friend of Gurgan Spearback, Log-a-Log and Shad.

He risked his own life battling a giant yellow eel to save Sloey, a Redwall Dibbun. After defeating the eel, Skipper was assigned to help Foremole Diggum, and later led his crew of forty otters in the Battle of the Ridge of a Thousand.
