Slipp was a searat and also the brother of Strapp. He was the former captain of the Pearl Queen after he stole her from Finnbarr Galedeep. The ship was stolen back, however, and he was left behind by his brother who chased the Pearl Queen. He wasn't alone, though, he had his boatswain Blaggut to keep him company. Slipp abused and beat Blaggut often, though.

The two searats found Mousebabe and Furrtil wandering around in the Mossflower Woods, and took them back to Redwall Abbey and on the pretense of being a carpenter and a cook. Slipp, however, has his mind set on finding Redwall's "secret treasure" especially after being told about it by Dibbuns.

After his cooking goes wrong, Slipp was told off by Mother Mellus and he held a grudge. While the others are having a song competition, he and Blaggut sneak off to find the treasure. Upon finding that the treasure is just Dibbuns' playthings, Slipp became angry with the Abbeybabes.

Simeon, Mousebabe, Furrtil and Mellus arrived on the scene. Slipp was about to attack the Dibbuns, but Mellus pounced onto Slipp. Killing the badger, Slipp made a break for it with Blaggut, taking a badger chalice won by the Dibbuns as spoils. Tiring of Slipp's constant abuse and filled with guilt and rage for not preventing Mellus' death, Blaggut forever renounced the ways of the searat by strangling Slipp to death in the woods near Redwall.
