Snaggs was an elderly male fox who controlled a small gang of vermin, most of them youngbeasts, in Mossflower Woods. He captured woodlanders and made them do various chores for the gang, killing them if they tried to escape.

Snaggs and his gang slew Posybud's parents and took the hogmaiden as a slave. Later, he captured Uggo Wiltud, and forced him to help Posybud fish and cook meals for the gang. Jum Gurdy and the Whoomers rescued the pair; Snaggs attempted to get them back, and slung things at the Whoomers, but the seals just played with the projectiles, much to the fox's annoyance.
