Hang on a mo...how can the Corpsemakers number 4000??? That's FOUR TIMES the Rapscallions! I've trawled Salamandastron and can't find the reference. It just seems improbable that an army of 4 grand could fail to take down a mountain defended by about 50 hares...FlinkyTheStoat 16:55, 15 June 2007 (UTC)
several reasons:
1. fisherman's " this was the one that got away" bragging. ferahgo was exaggerating. it was probably soemwhere under half that, or less.
2. they did technically take down the mountain, they were defeated not byt he Long Patrol, but by samkim's army, whihc numbered a lot more than 50.
3. you're forgetting Urthstripe in full bloodwrath.
4. friendly fire. at least one corpsemaker killed another one ( by accident when he had been offed by a ahre by an arrow), and ferahgo can't keep an eye on everyone. also, confusion of battle, someone could accierntally hit a comrade wiht either a shield or sword or whatever.
5. backstabbing. they knew they would conquer the mountian, so they started 2accidsentally2 killing each other
6. the bopiling water sent from salamandastron by Urthstripe would have decimated the corpsemakers, the exact amount depending on how many were in the tunnel.
ok, some weren't actually mentioned,. but you can imagine it happening. --Sstabeler 16:30, 29 September 2007 (UTC)

Edit
- If a number is to be listed of any sort, a page reference is now needed. --LordTBT

Page 136 of Salamandastron, Ferahgo says the odds would be more than fivescore(100) to 1!!! --RedwallFanatic

Over 3000, yes. 5000? I don't think so. More like 3500 or 4000.
