Tummscoff Stag Vittlesmythe, was the nephew or distant relation of Basil Stag Hare. He had a bigger appetite than his Uncle Basil, and was very cheeky. He was known to enjoy Friar Hugo's Autumn Oat Favorites, which was a type of cookie.

He called Basil "Nunky Baz" , much to Basil's displeasure. However, Basil began to threaten the young hare with beatings, or spankings, and his threats finally set in by winter. Tummscoff then began calling him Uncle Basil.
