News:Looking back: The 10th Anniversary of Nelvana's Redwall

On October 3 1998, Canadian studio Nelvana announced that production was underway for a new 13-episode animated series based on Redwall.

This year, 2009, is the 10th Anniversary of the first broadcast of the Redwall TV Series, first brought to television screens in 1999 by Nelvana.

Personally, I think the greatest way to celebrate would be the release of all three seasons on high-definition blu-ray, however at this time it doesn't seem like this will be a reality. Maybe in the future? We can only hope.

However, there are other ways to celebrate this milestone in the show's history.

Artist Nick Vallinakis, who worked on storyboards for the show, has graciously shared his artwork with the Redwall Wiki.

Below, you can enjoy the artwork of scenes from two episodes of Season 3, "Escape from Marshank" and "The Play's the Thing" in their conceptual pre-production stages.

While we were fortunate enough to see an animated series of Redwall, it would be fantastic to see a movie, if done right, on the big screen. Let's hope an opportunity to Brian Jacques' liking occurs some time in the near future.

I kinda remember seeing a little bit of it when I was little but, now many years later after seeing it all I was dazed!

You know the redwall tv series was never officially cancelled, just put on hold indefinately. But we all know what that means.

These storyboards rock and it would be lovely to see some character concept designs. Can't believe it's been 10 years!

This is very cool!! Storyboards are always very fun to look at. I wasn't superbly amazed by the series, but they did it well enough to make me cry when Rose died. I like the animation and this is very cool for him to give us this! Thank you, Nick!

I always laughed during seasons one in two because the entire Guosim had like 6 shrews in it and when one died, it came back in the next episode!

Wow... not only is "First comment" A pointless remark, but this time it appears to be second comment. I never liked the first TV series that much, and the second wasn't much better. The third, however, was very true to the book and I loved it.
