The Western Plains/Flatlands are a stretch of land located west of Mossflower Woods and extending to the coastal mountains. This is a beautiful green grassland area covered with many flowers, including kingcups, buttercups, cowslip, and dandelions. Its landscape is especially stunning at sunrise and sunset when it alternatively becomes bathed in reddish or golden tones. The Redwall Abbey Bell Tower is visible from the plain.

Orlando the Axe and his daughter Auma were originally from this region.

In Doomwyte, the Redwallers and Guosim threw the Painted Ones out on to the flatlands and plains, so they would never attack and harass woodlanders.
