Whurp was a fat male squirrel, a Chieftain of Coneslingers and father of Burnby. He and his squirrel tribe lived in an outcrop of pine trees near the seashore, and set many traps for unwary foebeasts inside their home. Whurp helped Triss and Shogg to escape Princess Kurda and her Ratguards, by having his tribe rain down hard, green pinecones upon the vermin. Whurp almost constantly spouted what he deemed to be words of wisdom, ending each quotation with the phrase, "...that's what I always say!"
